About Us

Ghana Society for the Socially Disadvantaged is a voluntary and non-profit making organization.
It was established in 1958 in partnership by some volunteers with Dept. of Social Welfare and Ministry of Health to enhance the quality of life for the physically challenged (crippled) and the socially disadvantaged youth by providing them with free residential vocational training (dressmaking, tailoring, shoemaking and beads making to enable them become independent, self-sufficient and be able to contribute to national development.

DONATION

Essential Needs

– Provision of equipment such as clutches, wheel chairs, sewing machines.
– Provision of basic tools and materials for the training programmes.
– Guidance and counseling services
– Renovation of dilapidated buildings
– Food and provisions

Free Vocational Training

The Organization has established a free Vocational Training Centre where physically challenged young male and females are trained in Dressmaking, Tailoring (Fashion Designing), Beads making and Leather Works for three (3) years. After which they take the Social Welfare Certificate Examination.

Track Records

Under the Vocational Training Programme, A three (3)-year Tailoring and Dressmaking programme was started in 1970. A total of about 700 trainees has graduated as at 2022.
